Make PNG Transparent
Upload a JPG, PNG or WEBP and download it with the background removed. Your first image is free, with no sign-up and no watermark.
How to Make a PNG Transparent (3 Steps)
1. Upload your image. Choose a PNG, JPG or WEBP from your device, or drop it into the tool above. A logo, a screenshot or a photo all work. The tool takes one image at a time. The shortest side must be at least 256px, and larger files are resized in your browser first.
2. Remove the background. Click the button. The AI finds the subject on its own and removes the background, so you can make a PNG transparent without selecting anything.
3. Preview and download. The result shows on a checkerboard, where the checks are the transparent parts. Click Download PNG, and you have a file ready for slides, stores and design tools. That is the whole job when you want to make a PNG transparent: upload, click, download.

Convert JPG to PNG Transparent Free
Want to convert a JPG to a transparent PNG? Renaming the file does not work, because a JPG cannot store transparency. The background has to be removed, and the result has to be saved as a PNG.
Transparent Maker does both in one pass, so you can make a PNG transparent and change the format at once. Upload the JPG, let the AI remove the background and download the PNG. Your first image is free, with no sign-up and no watermark, so you can convert JPG to PNG transparent free and judge the result before you pay anything.
You can convert a JPG to a transparent PNG as often as you have credits, one image at a time. After the free image, sign up for 2 more free credits, or buy a one-time pack starting at $4.99 for 50 images. There is no subscription.
PNG vs JPG: Why Only PNG Supports Transparency
JPG and PNG store pictures in different ways. JPG squeezes photos into small files, but it has no place to record see-through pixels. Every pixel gets a color, so a removed background turns into solid white or black.
PNG adds an alpha channel next to the color channels. The alpha value says how opaque each pixel is, from fully clear to fully solid. That is why a cut-out sits cleanly on a colored slide, a website or a product page, while a JPG shows its box.
The trade-off is file size. A PNG of a photo is often larger than the same photo as a JPG. For a cut-out product shot, a logo or a sticker, that is the right trade. To make a PNG transparent, you need the alpha channel, so PNG is the format to save in.
Smooth Edges, Hair and Semi-Transparent Areas
Hard outlines are what make a pasted subject look fake. The AI avoids them by producing soft alpha transitions along the edges. Where hair, fur or fine fabric meets the background, the edge fades gradually instead of stopping at a sharp line.
The same soft transitions help with semi-transparent details, where the subject is partly see-through. A subject that clearly stands out from its background gives the cleanest result. For the cleanest edges, start with a sharp photo in good light, taken with the subject clearly apart from the background.
Check the checkerboard preview before you download. Then place the PNG on a light and a dark background to see how the edges hold up. The same soft edges carry over to slides, store pages and print layouts. If a removal fails, your credit is returned automatically.
